Shadowy Figure.

by Parnashree
Helplessly Brown was standing under the the single dull lamp in the railway junction. He, in the faint lamp light, suddenly , noticed , a dark and solitary figure, came toward him. It was just two "o" clock . The nocturnal appearances made him shake in fear, as the station of that day emptied people and their business of pulling carriage.

Brown's curiosity was aroused. He was in want to know the figure. With his rapid leg he walked toward the figure and looked its face. He got a shock in the mind as he was in staring into his own face from him.

A deep panic surged through Brown . He turned his face from the man , carrying a speechless presence, gasped and broke into wild run. He received a stumble in his body on the platform ,so his sense made him a rush toward a moonlit road. Here he got a relaxation as moon light made the road quite bright. But he could clearly hear the echo of his own footsteps and the footsteps ,of another man were also sounded heavily. Brown paused his wild movement for moment. But shaken with complete fear he started to walk again.

At the end of the road Brown saw , a dark cottage. He , seeking desperately,a shelter, banged on the wooden door . He could get a hear heavy footsteps coming down from the creaking stairs. He opened the door and was blown into surprise and fear as he saw, a shadowy figure stood , with candle light. They exchanged no words. With shadowy figure he fell his steps to go the upper room crossing the creaking stairs. To upper room where the bright fire was burning they reached at. The shadowy figure offered Brown to sit on a long arm chair. He was filled with an actuate dread. The clock ticked in the hall below and the sea roared outside. The shadowy figure was not seen more. Suddenly the door of the upper room was opened automatically and making a crack on the door many hosts like shadowy man made a gather around him. Their huge shadow casted on the candle light captured walls. Their face covered in the darkness. Their half looked presence had grown the fear of Brown . He felt a chill run up but his scope of escape in less. Suddenly Brown's notice fell on the book wrapped under the red cover of leather. .A gust of wild wind with the taste of chill opened the last page of the book. Keeping his stumble stare on the shadowy figure, he rushed toward the book and and under the shaking light of candle picked up the book to read. He quickly reached to read the last line of the book and came to know the truth about their visit to the wold of death. A fatal cruel train accident seized their life from them. Suddenly he saw , all the shadowy figure vanished into the air. Brown with a peal of relaxation rapidly giving a rush reached on the moonlit road and walked toward home. Actually they wanted to give information what the cause of their phantom presence.
