Sad Comedy

Sad Comedy

Swing me over the cliff

Catch me in your arms last minute

Am I your puppet?

Having fun shuffling my feelings?

///

It’s such a joke

We share a bed,

But not a pair of slippers.

You draw the line,

But crossed it as you like.

///

One morning you woke me up

Kisses, chuckles, playful games

The next morning you blew it over

Coldness, door slammings, out-the-doors

Is this a comedy?

‘Cause it’s funny.

///

One evening you dragged me out

Surprised me with a picnic

Only both of us under the tree

The other evening you wrecked our closet

Said you’re heading for gym

Not into the planned candlelight dinner

This is a comedy

I decided

///

A happy little girl

Or a lost little girl

Depends on you

Always depends on you

Have fun messing up my life?

You think it’s a game,

Don’t you?

///

This is the last crazy ride

When the scene is right,

I’m jumping off the ride.

Used to stay

For the happy little girl inside

But I now see

Concern in her eyes

For she doesn’t know when

You’re revving up the ride again.

///

On

Off

In

Out

///

I’m wiped out

Can’t dance on your volcanic lava anymore

Think I have steel feet?

Such a joke

Can’t scream in delight on the ride anymore

Think I have a metal heart?

Such a joke

///

It's me now

To draw the line

Keep the meters

I’m wiped out

///

Stop the empty promises

Stop playing our love songs

Stop sucking the life out of me

It’s choking

///

It isn’t necessarily just you

Who can bring life

To the happy little girl inside.

Darn, so this is how it feels like to be typing on a chunky old-fashioned typewriter. Do you always type out all your poems like that?
