Precious Jewels

Albie was a pretty, petite young woman. Her hair was the lightest golden brown, and her eyes were the color of the ocean on a bright sunny day. Most people would say Albie was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Her group of friends were the snobbiest of snobs. They would all meet to play cards and to gossip about all the material things they had gotten and were always trying to out do one another. Albie was expecting a baby. This was unheard of to the other women of her group. They wanted nothing of the sort. Albie gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Several months after giving birth, Albie met with her friends as usual. They were talking about all their diamond necklaces, and as they were all showing off to one another Albie couldn't think of any necklace she had that was as wonderful as the feeling of having her child's arms around her neck. At that moment Albie seen life in a very, very different way. You can have all the riches of the world, but they will never mean as much as your child will.
