Natasha's fairy tale

by P'yonce Knowmore
Once upon a time in a town called Bluegums in Eastern Cape, there was a girl called Natasha who lived with her mother and her two brothers in a small house.

Natasha was so beautiful and smart too yet intelligent, quiet and peaceful. She never got involved with any guy because her mother always warned her not to and too, she had no father. Her mother always warned her about the ups and downs of love, the deceit and being broken hearted. She understood and listened to her mother but sooner or later, everything changed when she felt the feeling of love. She never destined herself to feel like and at first, she never realised what she was feeling.

She was doing grade eleven at that time and it was really a cold day when she met her first love, Peter and Natasha, his first. She was on her way home from school running fast because she was cold and yet, with no jersey. She wanted to get home as fast as she could so that she could jump into her bed and sleep. Peter saw her running and stopped her calling, "Natasha!" She couldn't believe it when she saw that Peter was the one who stopped her as she never cared about him, although so many girls in the school were so crazy about him until that day when he touched her hand.

Natasha was not sure what she was feeling that day. He offered her a jersey but she quickly said, "No, thank you," As nervous as she was she continued running home and when she got there she went straight to her bedroom. She laid onto her bed daydreaming about this young man who touched her hand earlier. She couldn't believe that this was really happening to her - her being in love. She even became so lazy that she couldn't do her house chores properly. Her mother soon realized that something has happened to her because she was singing love songs and her mind was definitely somewhere else.

The next day Natasha was walking around the school when she bumped into Peter again. They glanced at each other but the school bell started to ring and they all went to their classes. Natasha did not concentrate at all that day because as the teacher was busy asking a question about the lesson they were currently doing, she did not answer which was not normal because Natasha was always answering questions that were asked. She tried tickling and slapping herself making sure that she wasn't dreaming but nothing worked.

Days passed by as Natasha was trying so hard to forget Peter but it wasn't easy instead, those feelings grew more and more every time she saw him. She then started to ignore him every time she saw him and pretended to not see him. It was so depressing for her especially that she did not know how Peter felt about her.

One day when she was on her way home, she came across Peter but said nothing to him. She continued with her walk but soon after that she heard a voice behind her calling, "Natasha!" She paused for moment. She leisurely turned back and she was do shocked and happy at the same time when she saw who was calling her. Peter was carrying a box of chocolates and a rose smiling towards her. She was smiling and her heart was beating fast. Shyly she said, "Who's the lucky girl." "These are for your friend Beauty." he replied. For a moment there, her heart heated even faster. "Oh okay then." She felt so disappointed and ashamed. She did know what to say but Peter said, "Please thank her for making me realise who the girl of my dreams was."

Natasha didn't know what to say. "And who would that be?" she said curiously. "You, you Natasha." After she heard that, she melted and they kissed, for the first time.
