Married to a celebrity footballer

by Melanie
She couldn't believe it, Jack had just handed her his card and insisted that she gives him her phone number. She unconsciously closed her eyes and stood in silence, taking time to comprehend the happenings of minutes gone by. Had she known, Jack Hillman was gazing at her adoringly, his eyes beholding the beauty of the young woman who stood before him, eyes closed and luscious lips donning faint pink lipstick. He thought she was the most beautiful woman he had ever set his eyes on.

The Saturday afternoon's stroll along the lonely beach had led him to her. Both of them hadn't expected to meet anyone at the ghastly beach but there it was, he had met her and she had met him. Jack, a decorated footballer in the Spanish league and a celebrity deprived of enough personal time had come here in search of privacy while Anna, a young woman going through a tough period in her life had come here in search of solitude. That afternoon has the sun shone soothingly warm and a distant ship flapped its sail in the deep blue waters, the two had met.

Anna had been sitting on a rock, her body leaning forward and her hands resting on each side of her cheeks when she heard footsteps approach, she had turned around startled to see a man of a tall frame standing next to her. He had said hello to which she had reluctantly replied as she still couldn't believe that the figure standing right before her was none other than Jack Hillman, a star striker in the Spanish league. He was a celebrity, a man known to billions around the world. She couldn't believe that this was him. A short sleeved checkered shirt he wore that afternoon revealed his well-toned muscles. He offered her a handshake and she took it, trying to hide her bewilderment.

He had asked her what she was doing there all alone and she had incoherently replied, saying something about loving the cool breeze. He had then asked her her name and she had only given him her first name and refused to divulge her residence, only saying she lived not so far off from this forlorn beach. He had smiled and had sat down on a nearby opposite rock. He had started to introduce himself but she had cut him off, smiling meekly and saying she knew him, a football star. He had grinned and eased himself on the rock, spreading his legs apart in a manly fashion.

Conversation between the two of them had taken root by him asking her what she knew about soccer and she had smiled and said she knew the 2010 World Cup had been won by Spain. After that, they had talked about one thing after another, almost as if they were longtime friends and not two strangers who had just met at a lonely beach. Time had slowly passed by and by the time they both rose to go, sunset was approaching. It was then that he had reached into his trousers pocket and fished out his card and handed it to her, requesting to have her phone number.

"Didn't you hear me Anna?" He asked, his voice low.

"Or you're not okay giving it to me?" He continued.

Anna had opened her eyes and stared him in the face. She thought there was something in his eyes.

"It's okay, I'll give it to you. Have it......" She replied.

Anna hadn't intended to do this but she soon found herself letting him kiss her. She could smell his cologne in the evening air. She quickly pulled away, knowing it wasn't the right thing for her to do. This was a world renowned celebrity and a woman can never tell what a celebrity may want from her. She decided then that she was going to tread cautiously with him, in case he was going to call her.

Anyway, that night when the Spanish player called her, the two of them talked for hours and hours on end. These hours would turn into days and then later weeks, then months. Month after another then a year would come then two. Some days were good and some days she cried from the things she read about him online but through all this, the love between these two hearts survived. One fine morning in mid year, she walked down the aisle to meet him, her face veiled in net but still able to see the hundreds of cameramen snapping photo after photo of her Cinderella gown clad self. She had married a celebrity.
