Just Another Year

by DavidBokolo
The future uncertain as we stepped
In to 1st of January, 2016, amidst the
Cheering and pleasantries of yet another year
The lights and fireworks masking our
Disappointment and failings of the previous year;
Wishing for a new and brighter tomorrow

As a man groping in a thick forest
Brushing and slicing through the
Entanglement with a plowshare
Hoping to be led to a thoroughfare
Pleasantly adorned with all the finesse
And pleasures of what life would offer

Battered and bruised by the thorns and
Thistles that were laid in his path as he
Forges deeper into the thick gloom
The lights and fireworks were fainting
Memories of just another year; wishing
He’d been safer at that end after all

Many a men had fallen and lost in that gloom
But just as he’d thought he will never find his way out
He heard again the sounds and lighting of fireworks
On the horizon, just as the one before; here it comes again:
With his pulse pulsating, he raced into the frenzy fiesta

Thus, we’ve been able to navigate through this year
Groping and clutching to every thread, in pursuit of
Our dreams from January; so sure, but not knowing
What the morrow would bring in its wing; just hoping:
So many have lost their way and lost on the way
But we’re here holding on to the closing page of the year

The sound of Christmas bell is chiming ones again
Loud and strident; beckoning the coming of another
Year.
Let others and the author know if you liked it

Liked it alot?

Too much love of the cat, they say, kills the moth. Most love relationship got broken as a result of wrongly managed petty frail nerves. Like as I love to say, just musing.
