I look better in a sun dress

by Valis
You are the spun wings that lifted me when thread was a tangled mess
and was dwindling into the single string
I tied on this morning's hangover with
The days used to be never-ending and nights just pondered but not passed
When my relationship with intoxication met the bottom of an empty shot glass
The ashtray was stocked
With my leftovers and smoked me nots
And roaches that someday would become the filling of my next rolled escape
Into the haze of forgetting
Everything that happened that particular day
Just another stray survivor in a wave of vapor clouds
Where the sunlight magnifies each inscription of radiant space
Now gold laced and crowded out
Dissipating in the shadow created by its plume
And spreading its legs out floor to ceiling and reaching each corner of the room
This morning wake and bake is also known as the day saver
Laying claim to sunrise grounded rays
Electric fireflies that swarm on the pores of making sure I don't wake up too late
And miss the chance to see it's face
At first glance I meet my maker
Never wasting the chance to warm in its favor
As my skin is relinquished in its blaze
I watch it travel from wall to wall
Carpeting the east until the west softens its fall
And the horizon lays it to rest
Under a blanket of rotation
Another time another place my Sun
Don't worry I will wait
Through curtain calls of nightfall
Through constellations dance on stage
Through the ever present hours that crawl
Into the audience
Where they sit
And wait patiently for your a.m.
