Homesick!

by Akanksha Chowdhury
Bright lights blind me, glitters showdown
Speakers deafening with the big blaring sound,
Fake smiles hiding blues within
Corporate shakes under downcast shrouds unseen,
Women shimmering, men dazzling
Corporeal desires turn deceiving,
Vandalized dreams scatter on the floor
Dust and smoke fly, so does the uproar,
Where talks are blandishments for praises to earn
Real people are too difficult to discern,
Where friendships are feigning, nuptials be bargains
Where love has no meaning, but with profits and margins,
Deceitful decoys plunder humanity
Relationships transform to a mere levity,
Anthems of selfishness saying-“I, Me, Myself and None”,
Eating up morals like a blazing dragon,
Ego and attitude compete on the run
Distrust, anger, making the green eyed monster burn,
Brothers killing brothers, in the making of supreme Rambos
Barbie dolls replacing barrels, factories manufacturing ammo,
Greed, lust, power-hungry population
Further anticipate animosity and destruction,
Oh dear Mother, give me the holy benediction
And I’ll be safe and sound, far from restriction,
Oh dear Mother, save me from this falsifying chrome
I want to feel, be myself, I want to be back home!
