I reckon, it is quite apparent
There's something wrong with her grandparent.
And I hate to admit,
I might just have to rethink life a little bit.

'All freshly squeezed by our maid!'
Nana explained,
Her neck vastly veined.
Grandpappy pointed out,
'Oh, there's our goldfish swimmin' about!
'By golly gosh, what, oh, just WHAT
'Is our Goldie doing here out of its aqua-hut!
'Get it out of the lemonade, quick!
'Before it turns yellow and gets sick!'
Thus into the jug went a fork so sharp
When it grazed past the poor old carp,
Out flew Goldie into the air like an acrobat,
And into the mouth of Nana's pussycat.
'Oh, look what it has done!' cried the Mother.
'Now it'll drown in the other!
'How not very erudite,
'Can't it do anything right?'
The Father said, 'Now we shall throw
'That nasty tomcat down the pool below.
'Goldie can't live outside water
'So from now the cat has to live like an otter.'
The Mother turned her head about
And called me out,
'Don't just look around!
'Now bring the cat down,
'And see that it's all good
'Like a father would.'
But now, that horrid old Pussycat,
It seems, knows how to smell a rat.
It won't pretend
To not realise its nearing sticky end
So off from my arm it flees
And out of sight it ducks with ease.
'Tomcat's gone,' I tell 'em,
'I wasn't the one that's dumb.
'The cat was hot and in a hurry,
'All I saw was furry and blurry.'
Forgotten was the table talk
In place were eyes like hawk.
'Poppycock!' cried the Grandma.
'Tommyrot!' cried the Grandpa.
'Oh, shut up!' yelled the Mother.
'Think and judge, I'd rather!
'The boy has feasted on the cat,
'I'm quite sure of that!'
'Blimey...' the Father said,
'This son is such a blockhead.
'I did mention Goldie can't be outside water
'Now I'm afraid HE has to live like an otter.'
