Her Darkness (Part 9)

by purpletears
Tina got very nervous, thinking about what to say to Rita when they meet. Yes, they were very good friends..so long ago. Life made them going separate ways. No matter how deep is your friendship with someone, time always takes its toll. But all of those fears vanished when she saw the bright smile of her friend. They entered to the coffee shop, and began talking about mundane stuff, like their work and pets.
Suddenly, as if it were nothing, Rita said something like “I´m glad to see you, because I thought I couldn't make it to this month!”
“Why do you say so?”, asked Tina, looking visibly puzzled by those declarations “Were you sick?”
“I wish it had been only an illness!”, Rita smiled with a bit of melancholy “It was my stupid boyfriend”
“How is so?”
“Easy. He was nothing but an abusive dumb”
And then Rita began telling Tina a story about a young woman who got into an abusive relationship with a narcissist man, that almost killed her.
Tina broke down crying in the middle of her friend's story. It was too much for her to handle… Her friend went through a hell similar to hers.
