Haunted Part 1

by natsume1988
Slamming the door shut behind me, I grimaced when I saw the cheap Halloween trinkets my mother took the liberty to hung over the dying Oleander tree behind our house. The result was terrifyingly realistic, it won't be a surprised if scary looking monsters appear out of nowhere. And with our house looking anciently old, with cracked walls and crumbling tiled roof, the rumor that our house was haunted will only make everything appear real.

"That's why I hate Halloween..."

With an irritated sigh, I shook my head and starts walking over the car, but a loud banging sound froze me on the spot. I turn around, and narrowed my eyes at the closed door. I don't know what to think. There's no one home. I was sure of it. My father was out of town because of his business. While my mother was with her friend's house, doing God's know what...

So what's with the sound.. I thought with exasperation.

However any thoughts and questions leave me disoriented when I heard another bang. And then again. And another again. My eyes turn to slit, while I felt my nostrils flare as anger welled up inside me.

"The hell?! Seriously? I do not have time for this!" Clenching my jaw I stomped towards the door, opening it noisily. Set to yell to anyone I catch red handed with their incessant prank. However when I came in and was greeted by a sudden chill. Any anger and irritation I'm feeling died down.. The chilly sensation were almost like cold fingers trailing down all over my body. Bringing uncontrollable sense of dread within me. It's drowning my senses, to the point it was nearly overpowering.

"Hey, someone there!!??" I asked out loud, my voice shaking with fear.

No one answered back. Taking a single step, I called out again. But like before, no one replied. Then out of nowhere, a dark swirling fog appear in front of me. My pulse raced. Lump form in my throat, forcing me to gasped painfully as I watched it grew.

"What the heck??!!"

As my heart beat much faster, a horrible malevolent sensation came into me. My vision narrowed to a hazy tunnel. And then I realized that the fog seemed to thickened, shrouding the whole room in a grey looking miasma.

A minute later, I felt myself grew weak. I fall to my knees, almost on the verge of fainting when I heard a hissing sound. The sound vibrates through my bones, malevolently slithering through me. Drawing a deep breath, I open my quivering lips, in hope to ask some help. Hoping that someone will hear, even though I knew that no one will come. Our house were far away from town, and unfortunately we do not have any neighbor. Still I can't just give up without really trying, so I force the voice to come out, but I suddenly felt a hand in my shoulders, prompting me to shout instead.

"Ahhhhh!"

"Hey... Hey... You okay?"

I snap my head to the stranger, almost breaking it. But I have a hard time seeing through the blurred images in front of me. With a huff, I squint my eyes forcing my hazy mind to focus, although it was not an easy feat. A couple of minute pass by when my vision finally turn back to normal. The mist were long gone, and surprisingly I'm on my back sprawled on the cold floor while an unknown man was standing before me. Slowly standing, I forcefully narrowed my eyes at him and rasped, "Who the hell are you?"

My voice was hoarse, and my throat ache. Thankfully the feeling of dread were already gone. However to my dismay, it was replaced with burning irritation when I catch a glimpse of my mother who just came in followed by my father and a couple of people I do not know. I narrowed my eyes at them. Confusion clear in my eyes. There's something going on, and I have a hard time understanding what.

"Ahemm,"

My attention turn back at the person before, becoming more irritated. I crossed my arms over my chest, cocked my head on the side and sighed impatiently. "Well?"

The stranger just watched me with amusement and even hum an unknown melody before gracing me with a smirk, "The name's Agent Lewis. Your parents wanted us to investigate your house."

I blink my eyes, not really catching what he meant. "Huh?"

I wanted to inquire. Asked more questions. Demand some explanations. But before I have an opportunity to do so, a hissing sound stop me completely from muttering any single word. "Ha..pp..iy.. ha..lo..we......eeeen..''
