Damaged Goods

She goes by the name Dawn. You'd say she was an ordinary girl with ordinary likes and dislikes. She loves to dance and even sing. But circumstances have forced her into a life where she lives on the fringes of society.

At only 24, Dawn is a lady of the night. As she tries to make ends meat.

The phone rings for the third time tonight, it's only 22:00. She forces herself to answer dreading what the night has to offer. "Not again" she thinks to herself. But alas what must be done must be done and so she answers.

"Hello Dawn, I have a job for you" says her manager on the line. "Where to this time?" Dawn asks her voice a little shaky. "I've got a big job this time, your commission is R2500 will you take it?" asks her manager. "Ha ha, you know I will I have no choice just tell me where." she says. "The Premier hotel, be there in 20 min"

So she books her taxi with Uber, 5 min to get ready. "At least there will be a hot shower in the hotel" she thinks to herself, the faintest glimmer of a smile at the corner of her mouth. She hasn't had electricity for weeks.

As she thanks her driver, the tall dread starts to kick in at the thought of what this man will have her do. She enters the hotel and a small shiver moves down her spine despite the mid summer heat. Inside she goes to the bathroom, not much time to spare but any extra minute she can avoid the inevitable…

She looks herself in the mirror and says to herself "Dawn, you can do this girl, pull yourself together. He may be a sweet guy this time." She takes a big hit from her bag to calm her nerves even knowing this only makes it worse.

Knock knock

A neatly dressed man opens the door with a suite. His tie pulled loose around his neck. "Hello darling, aren't you beautiful!" he says with an excited glint in his eye. She wants to run but forces herself to step forward greeting him back "Hi, you called?"

"Yes, please come in"
"Have they explained it all to you?" she asks. He just nods his head

The last thought in her head is "Damage!"
