CRASH- 1

by KayleeMumba
She sensed that divorcing her husband of eighteen years, Mark Laverne was the best thing she could do for herself. She wanted to be free with her only daughter Tamara. At forty, she was the same young and beautiful Amanda Burke and young men were still coming after her. She knew her life would be easy with her daughter only. Mark was not going to share happiness with them as a family again. He had started a habit of drinking and verbally abusing her. She knew by that time that Mark was seeing other women. She couldn’t take it anymore when one day; she arrived home from work to see Mark sleeping with another woman on the bed they shared as husband and wife. She felt disgusted by the sight of the naked woman. To her horror, Mark ignored her and continued to kiss the woman, caressing her buttocks. Amanda screamed with fury.
“Get your bitch out of here, Mark! Do you have no shame? For God’s sake we are still married.”
Mark continued to ignore her. That’s when Amanda dragged the shameful woman out of her bedroom. When she got back to the room, Mark was sitting on the bed smoking.
“What’s your problem Amanda?” he asked her. Amanda felt tears welling up in her eyes. She fought them back refusing to shred her pride in front of Mark, her husband. She knew she had to look strong and that’s when she decided to live as a single parent.
“I want a divorce Mark.” She couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw Mark’s face full of shock.
“Amanda, what did you just say?”
“You heard me Mark. I can manage on my own. I can’t take this anymore. I’m leaving you to have freedom with all different types of women. I’m leaving with my daughter.” She turned to leave but Mark’s voice made her to freeze in her tracks.
“No way, you are not going anywhere with my daughter. She will remain here.” Amanda turned back and looked at him angrily. The look on his face was expressionless. She couldn’t figure out what he was thinking.
“She will come back here after she has finished her studies.”
With this words Amanda left Mark alone and went downstairs. Tamara, her beautiful daughter came in from school and as she entered the dining room, she was puzzled to see her mother crying. She went straight to where she was and put her arm on her shoulder.
“Mum, what’s wrong?” to her surprise her mother turned and hugged her tightly and wept on her shoulder. Tamara did not know what to do; instead she put her arms around her mother too. After some minutes her mother told her the whole story of divorcing her father. Tamara listened to her mother’s reasons carefully but she felt a twinge of pain when she recognized she was going to part ways with her father. Despite all her father’s wicked deeds, she loved him so much more than her own mother. She just agreed to leave more of her mother’s complains that her father was an alcoholic and a womanizer. The following days became strangely unusual and boring for both Tamara and Amanda. Mark agreed to sign the divorce papers and it was now legal for both of them to date and marry again. The day Amanda and her daughter left to Florida was the same day Mark Laverne’s world crashed. He became violent with everyone and the only thing he could get rid of his stress was through sex and drugs. His daughter overheard about her father’s crumbling health and found a lady by the name Bronte to council him. Two years later Mark became married to Bronte Aniston. Tamara often went to see her and she began to love Bronte lie her own mother. Her mother began to spend most of her time outdoors which made Tamara to get closer to Bronte. Mark was happy to see her daughter getting along very well with his wife. Amanda continued with her long weekend vacations. She became very busy that Tamara, although at twenty felt neglected. When Amanda came back the following weekend, Tamara was at her father’s house with her stepmother, Bronte. Amanda took out her phone and dialed her number.
“Hello mum. How are you?”
“Hie my baby. Please will you come over here? I want you to meet someone.”
“Who is it Mum?” Tamara asked.
“Just come Tama and you will meet him. It’s a surprise.”
“Okay I’m on my way.” Replied Tamara.
She said goodbye to Bronte and hugged her. She reached her mother’s house in forty five minutes time. Her mother welcomed her at the door and they entered the dining room. Tamara took notice of a young man, who was standing who was standing on a window enjoying the beautiful scenery outside their house. As he turned around, Tamara froze in her tracks. She had never seen anyone incredibly handsome in her lifetime. He was averagely tall, with some dark black hair. His smile was innocent as that of a child and interestingly charming and sexy. He was wearing a blue golf t-shirt opened at the neck, revealing his bare muscular tanned chest. His black faded jeans fitted him perfectly. Tamara was lustily engrossed, admiring the features of the young stranger when she heard her mother talking.
“Andrew, meet my beautiful daughter, Tamara Laverne.”
“Hello, Tamara!” said the young man walking towards her. Tamara felt her melting to this sudden presence of the handsome stranger.
“Tama, this is Andrew McLean, your new step-father.”
Tamara’s heart thumped with shock. She couldn’t believe that her mother could possibly marry a young man like Andrew. To her surprise, Andrew took he hand in greeting. Suddenly she felt her body tingle all over as Andrew gave another charming smile. She could feel the chemistry between them. It was hot and the way Andrew eyed her that moment showed that he felt the same. Andrew’s hand continued to linger over her, sending unexpected shivers through her body and she quickly drew her hand away from his.
“Nice to meet you, Andrew.”
“Nice to meet you too, Tama.”
The informal tone he used made Tamara to feel like it was déjà-vu.
“You are a beauty like your mother, just as I expected when your mother told me I was going to meet you.”
“Thank you.” Tamara smiled, blushing prettily.
Andrew looked at her in amazement. She was unexpectedly amazing, sexy and charming. Andrew knew it was going to be interesting to be around her. Her body curves were feminine and she was slender hot. The smile on her face send Andrew’s heart racing and it feels like his head was spinning. He felt like touching her allover making that blue eyes of her glow with pleasure. His hands began to shake and he forced them into his pockets to avoid embarrassing himself. It was just lust. He assured himself. He couldn’t possibly fall for his step-daughter. Amanda wouldn’t like it but it was going to be a long night for him.
