But People aren't Lists, Now are They?

by shana
I fall in love with every person I meet. Not them as a whole, but pieces of them.

Like the way the barista in Starbucks runs his fingers through his hair every time he gets an order, and the way my best friend smiles whenever she says the word macaroni.

I fell in love with the laugh of a brown eyed boy who sat next to me in a cinema, and the rosy pink cheeks of a little girl I met in the park.

I fell in love with the way a boy with a skull chain tattoo around his neck carried his mother’s groceries as they walked together, and the way I could see a boy’s eyes sparkle past his dark spectacles whenever he played the guitar.

I merge the list of all the things I love about people and create a person in my head, in hopes I will someday meet this love of my life.

But people aren’t lists, now are they?
