Betrayal of The Innocent - Chapter six - Finale

Chapter 6

When Jen stopped in front of the security gate, she waited for it to open. She felt very nervous, since this “sense” has developed between them, they have never been alone.
Dalton looked at her with that sexy smile of his: “Why are you blushing?” he asked her curiously, she just replied, with a stop it, she isn’t blushing…. inside the house it was cool and serene.
Dalton took out a cool beer for each of them whilst Jen took out some glasses.
Jen turned around and caught a bit of a fright as Dalton was standing right behind her.
The only thing she was able to utter was a: “uh.” He took her in his arms, for a moment he kissed her gently, but the passion for waiting for this day, took hold of them and their kisses turned into lust and craving for more……
That moment they both were dreaming about finally arrived……he picked her up in his arms. She tried to stop him. She looked gently at him, whispering in his ear: “I am old enough to be your mother Dalton.” He looked at her, smiled and said: “I see a beautiful woman, that I desire almost since the day I met her, and I have a feeling this” he look at her body, caressing it with his eyes” “is only a byproduct. Not the only reason for what we feel……there is more…..”
He walked with her in his arms to the bedroom and for Jennifer he was those moments: “she was shearing for some-one, something, meaning, in her life.” “the trouble she wanted, the attention, love, affection, someone to spend time with…a lover.”
They were crazy in love; they spend as much time together as possible. Since Winston told Dalton to stay away from Jen, they told him nothing and kept their affair to themselves. Jen felt miserable, but she knew Winston would be furious, and she didn’t want to lose his friendship. She cherished it too much.
She and Dalton always had to make up some story, that she had to take him somewhere or do something. The most awkward and miserable times for her, was when Winston phoned her, to do something together and she told him, she was busy with something else and he said, he is bored, he didn’t know where Dalton disappeared of to.
Jennifer and Dalton came up with a great idea. Winston finally found a job and since Dalton still haven’t found anything, they decided to ask Hank, if he could help Jen paint the house for some pocket money. Jennifer and Dalton was able to spend every day together without hiding anymore and they had the best days of their lives.
The relationship between them went on for almost two years, when Dalton met a girl he was interested in. it was devastating to Jennifer. They decided to still be friends, but that was all that there would be between them, no more special intimate moments together........Jen realized, it was as difficult for him as for her, even though there were some-one else in his life, that was his age......
Then one day just before Jennifer’s birthday she received a devastating call from Dalton. He told her, to be honest, that even though he had a girlfriend, he had still feelings for her, but he must end their friendship. It wasn’t normal for someone his age, to be friends with a woman, Jennifer’s age. Jennifer was devastated, she was crying, and begging him, not to do this to her, but he just said he is sorry and put the phone down.
That evening Hank asked her to go out for dinner, she didn’t feel like going out, but she couldn’t refuse either. They went to the same Italian restaurant as the evening with Cash’s birthday.
He ordered champagne, Jennifer felt uneasy but also surprised at the same time. He made a toast on them and their wedding and then told her, he had something to say to her.
Hank told Jennifer, he wanted a divorce and that he knew about her and Dalton. Jennifer turned pale and looked as if she was about to faint. The first thing she asked Hank was: “What did you do to Dalton?” He assured he did nothing.
Hank felt betrayed and he was the innocent one.
Jennifer never saw nor heard from Dalton again, but still wonders who told Hank about Dalton.
The last thought that came to her mind was:
"Was her husband really the betrayal and innocent?"
Or was he also guilty of deception………
