Akyeaa: Chapter 2

by safohen
'You were talking about the furry one?'

'Ah, yes. The furry one has seven different names that must be said out loud before it can be killed. At least according to the folklore. But I guess stomping it into the ground works too.'

'The other one kept insisting that I take a bite out of its head.' Akyeaa grunted as she dug graves for the two kakai. 'Like anyone would want to do that'.

An hour later, the two kakai were six feet underground and the two women headed back to Ankonamkrom.

'So, I'm guessing that the only reason the elders let you in is because you told them that you could control me.'

'Yes. Ever since the high priestesses tried to control the royal court in Cape Coast, people have become very hostile to my colleagues. Some of them have lost their jobs, others have simply denied ever being priestesses. If I can guide you properly, show the rest of the world that not all priestesses are crazy, then maybe things will go back to normal.'

'Then I might as well tell you that the elders would also want me to keep an eye on you, Fosuaa. You know just in case, you are the one who decides to turn all evil. The founder of this village was going to be sacrificed to the gods, but she managed to escape just in time. As a result, the village is considered to be a sort of religious dead zone. You are the first priestess in decades to be allowed in here. Which means we'll be keeping an eye on each other.'
