Akyeaa: Chapter 16

by safohen
It had been three months since Ekuaba's defeat. Ankonamkrom had been rebuilt with great effort. However most of its former residents had not returned. Akyeaa didn't blame them. After what Ekuaba did, she wouldn't have wanted to return either. Now she had to track down Bimm and stop her before she came up with something crazier than Ekuaba.

Fosuaa walked into her living room unannounced and noticed Akyeaa packing a wooden hand into a knapsack.

'What's with the hand, Akyeaa?'

'It's Ekuaba's hand. It, like the rest of her body was infused with Bimm's essence. So if Bim is nearby, it should start to grow warm. At least that's how the folklore goes, about tracking down supernatural entities.'

'I'll come with you".

'No, you need to stay here, Fosuaa. The people have been through a difficult period. They will need your guidance and counsel. I'll have to do this alone, no matter how long it takes.'

She left the village by dawn and set off to the grove where Fosuaa had been about to make a deal with a kakai. Only that was no kakai at all. Bimm was the 'Kakai' the folklore there spoke of. It was the ideal place to start her search. After hours of searching the area, she realised Bimm was no longer there.

She left the grove heading westward. A few kilometres away, she heard the rhythmic thumping of wardrums. The drum message was clear. Destroy everyone. The wooden hand began to grow warm in her suit pocket. Bimm had been here.

She hurried to the source of the drumming. It was a small camp of people, who were now at each other's throats. At the centre of the camp was a red and black set of drums. With no drummer. Suddenly someone swung at her from her right. She dodged the blow and tackled her with a low sweep of her left foot. Others randomly attacked her as well.

Using her martial training, she subdued them with palm thrusts and tackles, taking care not to hurt them. She then smashed the drum with one kick from her left foot.
