A Lonely Girl

by purpletears
“Hello, are you listening to me?’”, the young woman asked, and the only answer she got was the sound of her own voice. Yes, the world was filled with understanding persons, and yet, she was alone, standing on a dark corner of a dirty street. Was she too bad or too ugly to have friends? No, probably not, she had such a charming little smile, and even when she wasn't exactly a saint, she never did something really bad, and she always did her best to try to not hurt other people on purpose. So, what was the reason that made her live that lonely live? It was not really easy to pinpoint the exact moment when such a thing happened. Once, she was a happy young girl, of the kind that believed in happy endings. But life showed her that, sadly, for some, those happy endings are mere fiction. After realizing such a thing, her tender heart got bitter, forgetting for a long time about kindness and those feelings that make the human soul feel lighter. Even smiling just one time everyday got harder for her, as she thought that maybe, someone living high above, forgot about her. While her mind was still lost in those dark thoughts, something amazing happened, a boy, almost her same age, smiled brightly at her.
Her heart suddenly skipped a beat. No matter what others could say, and no matter if some dark memories from the past tried to come back to haunt her, she was still a human being that deserved to be loved.
