A balloon Vendor

by nupur27
While walking by the street, clean and dry on a day of scorching heat, I saw a balloon vendor with bright colorful balloons on his customized cycle. From far, the effect of colors was seen like a rainbow, a distorted one. It had no fine lines between different color bands. But it was a mixture of all of them. In that dying heat, as he cam near, I noticed the smile he had on his face. That smile was: for his cute little daughter that was sleeping cozily on the back seat. I asked him for a balloon and he replied me with a question: "Which color ma'am?". I said: "Whichever is the best one." He gave the one with a smile face on. That one was totally different than the others. I asked him the reason for why he gave that particular one? He replied: "Ma'am, when I was blowing air to all these, my daughter drew a smile face on this one. And said to me tat, Daddy, this one will give us a lot of money. The satisfaction of living below poverty line is due to the sparkling laughter of my daughter for me. Her talks give me motivation to look forward and move along with the hardships. So, this one is my favorite balloon." I looked at her daughter on the back seat of the cycle. Though the UV rays from sun, were passing through her sensitive, delicate skin. She was sleeping with a smile of satisfaction, that she is driven to the heights of happiness and satisfaction by her father.

July 13, 2015 - 11:02 A sweet sad story. Reminds me of a real life incident with a balloon man whose daughter was in her father's lap because she had no shoes.

I wanted to add my thoughts to your comment that: though they are sad on the materialistic luxury. They are more inspiring and make a difference in their lives way better than the upper class society.
